Sammy Clark Cemetery

 near Dana, Floyd County, KY. 

 One of the oldest community cemeteries in the area.  Most headstones are now unreadable or marked only with rocks.

George W. Kidd and his wife, Francis Stanley Kidd are buried in the woods nearby.

A Clark cousin has cleared a portion of the cemetery, (as seen in the first photo to the left), but there are quite a few  more headstones in the woods.  There are plans to clear that area in the future.

We ventured out a ways and found some markers, but many were covered in moss, or buried under heavy brush.   Since it was dusk and it was the height of SNAKE season, we decided against venturing further.

John Clark

Born 2-18-1852
Murdered 4-11-1876

John was the son of Lorenzo Dow Clark & Patience Williams and the grandson of Samuel "Sammy" Clark.

John was married to Rutha Sarah F. Clark about 1871.  I only know of two children, Jacob, born abt. 1872 and Alice, born abt. 1874.

Paris Clark

Born 4-17-1875
Died 9-6-1905

Paris was the son of Morgan Clark and Sarah Jane Clark.  He was the grandson of Lorenzo Dow Clark & Patience Williams.
